Hello all,
Does anyone know if there are additional requirements from ASME for outdoor valves beyond what is called for under BPV code section I? Basically we have a high pressure water tube steam boiler, 150 psi design, that will be placed outdoors. The boiler will have a roof and a full boiler height enclosure that will extend from the boiler front and house the burner and controls. The gas train, which will be NEMA4, both the quick opening and slow opening blowdown valves and the relief valve will be outside of the enclosure and thus exposed to the elements.

You need to coordinate with the boiler manufacturer, they typically supply the relief valve.. Ensure they spec a valve that is corrosion resistant when exposed to the elements.
But now I am curious. Money to put in a Div 1 water tube and you really can't extend the raincover over the gas train and blowdown valves? I suppose they make NEMA 4X pressure switches etc. for a gas train that could be used outdoors, but it might not be a standard option..
Are you are also supporting this "roof" from the boiler itself to save additional cost? Are there clips for attaching steel, and is the boiler manuf. aware of the loads?
Is your blowdown tank also outdoors?? You'll have to heat trace all that.
