Note dialogue box memory

Note dialogue box memory

Note dialogue box memory

(OP)
Is it possible to set the Note dialogue box so that the "origin" section is collapsed by default? When the note box opens it is too long for my screen and all I see is the "origin" and "leader" sections but I have to scroll down to see the text entry section. I want to collapse the placement section so that I can see the text entry box immediatley on opening the command.

Sorry, this is in NX 7.5.3.3

thanks in advance for any help

RE: Note dialogue box memory

If that dialog works as it should, ( - i don't know if it does or not.)
You should be able to first close the "groups" ( up-arrow) in the dialog that you want to remove, then click the , in the "dialog rail handle" , button "hide collapsed groups". ( a dash as picture) Then place a note on the drawing ( Some dialogs don't store the settings if the dialog is canceled.)
NX should as i said remember this setting.
I have seen that the Note dialog keeps opening up the "origin group" as soon as i place a note. - Irritating!

RE: Note dialogue box memory

The issue here is that unless you have explicitly HIDDEN the 'Origin' group of the dialog (as Toost described above), it will always open because this group contains the selection item which is active when the dialog first opens.  Our standard behavior guideline states that (except in the hidden case) when a dialog is opened, if there is some immediate action expected, such as in this case selecting an origin for the note or the origin for the leader of a label, that this dialog item be visible so that users a) knows it's the active item since it's shown in Orange so there is no question what the system is expecting the user to do and b) since there's the possibility that the user may wish to invoke an option or use an alternative method when performing the expected action that we make these options readily available without the need to randomly expand other sections to find where these options might be found.

About the best that you can do is collapse the sub-groups inside the Origin group since they don't have an action items that need to be seen the next time you invoke the Note dialog.  This will make that group as 'short' as it can be.
