I am currently doing stress analysis work experience and have been chucked in at the deep end so to speak but I am enjoying it, however, I would like to ask 2 questions for anyone brave enough (pre-appologise if I don't make myself clear)

Quick description of the image. It is a tray hanging from two vertical bars that are constrained at the top and have pivot joints at the bottom. The bars are made of plastic and the tray of GRP.

1) I have a pivot joint as shown by the image. The beam is defined using two nodes at the top and bottom. The bottom node coincides with a node on the tray and I have 5 springs(COMBIN14) linking them up - so all apart from ROTX, is this a realistic solution?

2) How do I set up material properties for a plastic component? For the GRP I presume I need to set up two co-ord systems - one for the base and one for the sides since the fiber runs in different directions and then use MP as suggested by 7.2.1.2. Orthotropic Elastic Model in ansys help.
