geomembrane under tanker loading pad
geomembrane under tanker loading pad
(OP)
I'm working on a project for an oil supplier which includes a concrete pad where the trucks are situated while loading or unloading. We want to install a geomembrane under the pad as secondary containment to protect against leaks to the subsurface through cracks in the pad. I've worked with geomembranes as secondary liners for waste containment where they are part of a composite liner with compacted clay but not underlying a concrete pad. Can anyone provide me any ideas on what the specs for such a geomembrane would be?

RE: geomembrane under tanker loading pad
Effective containment means that the dike, berm, or retaining wall must be capable of containing oil and sufficiently impervious to prevent discharges from the containment system until it is cleaned up. The same holds true for containment floors or bottoms; they must be able to contain oil to prevent a
discharge as described in §112.1(b). However, "effective containment" does not mean that liners are required for secondary containment areas. Liners are an option for meeting the secondary containment requirements, but are not required by the rule.

Installing a liner under the concrete is not necessary, will be difficult and will offer little additional benefit over the concrete.
