sprinkler pipe clearance?

sprinkler pipe clearance?

sprinkler pipe clearance?

(OP)
Hello all

What is the requirement for sprinkler pipe clearance from truss members? I couldn't find anything in NFPA 13. And is it better if it is actually resting on the members rather than being less than 2" inches away since it can bang against it during seismic event?

RE: sprinkler pipe clearance?

What kind of sprinklers?   Standard spray or ESFR?   How wide are the truss members?

Running the pipe on the Bottom chords is going to be easiest install.  If seismic design category for the building is C D or E you have brace piping per NFPA 13 ch 9.3.,   You'll get better advice posting in NFPA Codes forum.

Real world knowledge doesn't fall out of the sky on a parachute, but rather is gained in small increments during moments of panic or curiosity.

They are standard sprinklers, I'll have to check the width of the truss members, but they look about 1-2"

I didn't know there was NFPA forum, I'll post there, thanks
