Can anyone tell me if they know of any manufacturers building products similar to torishima or nijhuis pumps?

RE: manufacturers like torishima/nijhuis pumps

Torishima and Nijhuis are just brand name. What model / type of pumps are you talking about.

Hi Pumpsonly,

we used Torishima as they could engineer pumps from scratch, we use them for high volume high head applications and desal type work.

We cannot use Sulzer as they are direct competition, i suppose I am looking for the pump companies who compete with Torishima and nijhuis for the desal jobs?

RE: manufacturers like torishima/nijhuis pumps

KSB, Sulzer, Flowserve, Weir have all been used in large Australian desal plants alongwith Toroshima and Nijhuis.

Hi Stanier,

I think my handle gives away the company I work for and all the companies you have listed are direct competition to us, we had exclusice access to Torishima in Australia (this is no longer the case) so I guess I am looking for a company who are looking to get there pump's in Australia but are not here yet, a big ask I know.

RE: manufacturers like torishima/nijhuis pumps

When I worked on the Gold Coast desal Torshima was bought direct from Japan. Also for the Adelaide project I was getting prices direct from them. I knew of no exclusivity so I am confused.

As the large manufacturers have the experience of casting in super duplex, and are directly represented here, I see you have a difficult task.

The major desal plants here are built by the likes of Veolia and Acciona Agua. These international water companies have direct access to the main pump companies.

As this is a commercial type posting you may want to correspond with me direct if you get red flagged. My email address is on the website.

Seeing as how it looks like you work for W****, you might just have to bite the bullet and buy from the opposition, assuming of course they will sell to you - but then in this day and age - a sale is a sale.

RE: manufacturers like torishima/nijhuis pumps

ITT Goulds supply high head multistage ring section and split casing pumps suitable for desal work.

RE: manufacturers like torishima/nijhuis pumps

ITT are well entrnech in Oz and have their own service division. They are unlikely to let a competitotr near their products. I understand that W*** are looking for a brand not sold here that they can represent. As all the majors are here it is a hard task. Guess they will have to get the cheque book out and buy somebody.
