Structural bolts and service bolts

(OP)
Hi,

Can anyone explain me the difference between service bolt material and structural bolt material and why cant we use SA-193 B7 material instead of SA 320 Gr. L7 (P.S. : Client has specified Anchor chair material sa SA 320 Gr.B7 and we are having SA-193 B7 in stock)

DOES the metallurgy or environment effect on the use of bolts..?

Thanks.

RE: Structural bolts and service bolts

I think you answered your own question.  The reason you cannot use A-193 for this application is because your client won't allow it.

Generally the A-320 is used for cryogenic applications.

Suggestion, would be to propose the A-193 along with costing and scheduling for your client to consider.
