Need Help Finding An Existing Solution/Substitute for PVC Hanger Caps

Need Help Finding An Existing Solution/Substitute for PVC Hanger Caps

Need Help Finding An Existing Solution/Substitute for PVC Hanger Caps

(OP)
Hi All,

Not sure if this is located in the correct forum- really had to scratch my head over it and then defaulted to my M.E.s!

I am trying to located a supplier of vinyl hanger caps that are ovular in cross section not round.

An example of your typical vinyl hanger can be found at:
http://www.mocap.com/vinyl-hanger-caps.html

The approximate dimmensions that I am looking to encapsulate are 1"x0.5". The issue of using a 1" ID vinyl hanger cap is that there is too much remaining space inbetween the object and the cap. The seal between the cap and the object needs to be a tight one, preferably water tight to some small amount. It is also necessary that the cap have the hanger/eyelet portion.

I have some samples of heat shrink end caps on the way, however they do not have the "hanger portion" that would be advantageous to my design.

I have also played around with shriking the vinyl (PVC) cap down to the shape of the object by heating it up to ~250F, however I have not noticed any dimmensional changes yet (except the effect of gravity pulling the eyelet down/narrower). I am hesitant to go to higher temperatures.

Any help or things to search for would be of great help!

Thanks.

Tried a smaller one yet?

As suggested, a 3/4" cap would probably work.

Thanks for the feedback guys- sounds like I am overthinking this as usual!

Smaller samples are on the way!

If the quantity is there the link in your OP will make specials. They use the Dip molding process and even though the tooling coat is normally quite low it will still take quantities to justify the coat and Time.

In the round hanger cap field there are  people who make very flexible/elastic caps, more so than the normal hardware variety, that might do the trick.

Thanks again guys- the hunt continues!
