Impact damage on a composite laminate using ABAQUS

Hello there...
I am trying to model and analyse the impact damage ona composite laminate using ABAQUS....would be extremely greatful for a few procedures that needs to be done for doing that...i am a noobie in this...
thank u in advance...

RE: Impact damage on a composite laminate using ABAQUS

extremely difficult problem, particularly for a noob;  why do you want/need to do this? what do you expect to get from the analysis?

suggest you look for technical papers on the subject and get up to speed on what has been done previously

and then go run some tests to understand the actual damage state and mechanisms in an impacted laminate

Thank you for replying... I am doing this as a part of my M.Sc dissertation project...the aim is to find out the maximum impact energy the laminate could take without delaminating...my supervisor has asked me to use cohesive elements to model the delamination growth...i have found a couple of technical papers but they dont make much sense as they dont give me any procedures for the modelling...i am struggling with this since i am new to this software...
