Roof diaphragm design at different elevations
Roof diaphragm design at different elevations
(OP)
I have a building that consists of basically two tenants.
One tenant has a sloped roof (1/4" per foot requirement) while the other wants a hip roof with (2.5" per foot). At school, I was taught to take these two tenant spaces as two different buildings. I do have a interior wall that separates the two buildings. This wall is to be the interior shearwall. I will be designing it for the loads from both the buildings (spaces).
I was wondering how would you design the shear transfer from the hip roof to the lower flat (very small slope) if there wasn't any wall present.
