Good Wear Material with Polycarbonate
Good Wear Material with Polycarbonate
(OP)
Can anyone suggest a good material to wear against an injection molded unfilled polycarbonate part?
We have a polycarbonate "puck" which is a carrier for 6 test tubes. The puck is about 6" long, 1" wide, and 2" tall, and will ride on a conveyor. For part of the process, it will be driven by a belt on one side, and pushed against a wall on the other, so that we can move the puck at a more controlled speed than a simple conveyor. I am trying to determine the best material for a wall to minimize wear and friction. Ideally it should be readily available in sheet form.
Any suggestions for a good material? How would UHMWPE be? Any materials to avoid?
Thanks
V

RE: Good Wear Material with Polycarbonate
A few more details like temperature, environment, etc. would be helpful.
UHMW polyethylene would be good place to start.

Ambient temperature (70-80F), maybe dusty environment, no real chemical exposure except maybe a 10% bleach wipedown once a day.
