Geometry definition

(OP)
Hi there,

First post, so here is a brief intro of me, scientific background, engineering basics, and at the moment designing a flying-boat, self-learning everything, taking it slowly.

I'm getting to grips with Abaqus (6.10), which I intend to use for analysing my structures (composites).
I've run through the interactive help, that was very usefull, now I'm trying to run my own analysis, pretty basic setup to start with, fuselage geometry, uniform pressure under the nose, constrained fixed at the wing and stabilizer (simulate water impact).

The results shows that the model isn't properly defined as I have frames not moving at all and splits appearing between hull surfaces (see picture), now could you point me towards what I need to do to get this sorted, is it a geometry problem or a constraint definition problem ?
I looked through the "composite yatch hull" example and I can't see any explicit link between surfaces in that model.
My geometry is imported from a .catpart Catia V5

Thanks all

RE: Geometry definition

Use the geometry repair tools to remove any splits, redundant entities etc., in the part module. You should be able to see any splits by using the options/common tool and show free edges.

Thks corus, I fidled with all the geometry repair tools but couldn't fix all the cases so in the end I split my faces from Catia directly so when I import in Abaqus I don't need to fix anything, only got free edges on the symmetry plane now ;)
