Wonder if API 541 motor can withstand out-of phase torque during bus transfer or autoreclosing? Thanks.

RE: Motor Out of pahse torque

The 1995 version of API 541  (old version, but the most recent available to me) doesn't seem to say anything special about this.  So I assume that specification-wise, the requirements come from NEMA MG-1 (or anything special the user has specified).

NEMA MG-1 20.34 recommends slow transfer / reclose (> 1.5 open-circuit time constants... gets residual voltage well below 33%... actually 22%).... for fast transfer reclose they recommend an engineering study.

Of course a discussion with oem regarding whatever you have in mind can't hurt...
