Helical Baffle Heat Transfer

Helical Baffle Heat Transfer

Helical Baffle Heat Transfer

(OP)
Good day,
I'm looking for heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for helical baffles inside a shell-and-tube heat exchanger. I'm considering segmented helical baffles.  I've tried to search for literature, but couldn't find anything relevant.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

RE: Helical Baffle Heat Transfer

Phil,
The Heli-Baffle technology is a proprietary development of Koch Heat Transfer, which has developed a method of heat transfer calculation (also proprietary) with HTRI. Simply by purchasing the HTRI Xchanger Suite (refer also to the HTRI website), you will have a tool to help you design the helical baffle exchanger. Also, you will have to employ your 10 years of experience in designing heat exchange processes and further more years of experience in the mechanical design of these proprietary exchangers.
Otherwise, you need to contact an accredited designer/fabricator of heli-baffle exchangers and pay them for the design.
Best of luck,
gr2vessels
