Hello

When i make a simple expanding cylinder made with shell elements with 5 integration layers, the output results for SP1 and SP5 are the same. These, i have always assumed, are the outputs for layers 1and 5 (the outer and inner layers). yet for some reason the results are the same.

This cannot be the case when the thickness of the shell is decreasing with time i.e. the strain on the outer surface should be less than the inner.

How do you get true outputs for the integration layers??

For thick cylinders the stress is different through the thickness. But for thin cylinders, the stress on the inside radius is nearly the same as the outside radius. What are the cylinder dimensions?

Actually, by your statement it would appear that it would be a thin wall if it is expanding.
