Gold/Tin Solder

Gold/Tin Solder

RE: Gold/Tin Solder

Are you sure such a thing exists?

RE: Gold/Tin Solder

Yes, gold-tin alloy preforms are used for certain types of assembly processing: http://alpha.cooksonelectronics.com/products/getpdf.asp?PDF=%5Cproducts%5Cpdfs%5Cpreforms%5CSG-Preforms-PRE-WWE-SM727-2%20%2008-09-23.pdf

However, I don't recall ever seeing anything about fatigue, possibly because until extremely recently, dies were not large enough to cause flexure failures of the die attach.
