Z462- Glove Class

Z462- Glove Class

Z462- Glove Class

(OP)
Is glove class information part of arc flash study report?
Z462 only refers to whether it's required or not

RE: Z462- Glove Class

The following glove class table comes from ASTM D120-95

00   500V
0    1000V
1    7500V
2    17000V
3    26500V
4    36000V

It is always good to include this in the appendix of the arc flash report.

RE: Z462- Glove Class

It is always included in our A/F studies.

So, there isn't any reference in Z462 to glove class. If Cat2 PPE must be worn then gloves are required, but class is not defined.

RE: Z462- Glove Class

ATSM D120 covers the rating of the glove class. Voltage will be known in your study and thereby determine which class of glove is required as well as the other PPE and boundaries.

RE: Z462- Glove Class

Insulating gloves are for shock protection, not arc flash protection, so they are not necessarily part of an arc flash study.  We normally include shock hazard information (voltage, approach distances) on the arc hazard labels, however.  You could easily add glove class, but I don't think it's necessary.

Great. Thanks for all the inputs.
Yes. Shock protection not arc flash protection.
