Solidworks - Editing a component in an assembly

(OP)
When I edit a component in an assembly all the stuff I have drawn previously turn to wire frame. When I exit, edit component, everything turns back to a solid. Is there any way to have previous drawings stay solid while I using edit component?
I am using 2011

Thanks in advance,

Mark

"Is there any way to have previous drawings stay solid while I using edit component?"

I think you meant "Is there any way to have other models stay solid while I using edit component?".
