Dimension Extension Line

Dimension Extension Line

Dimension Extension Line

(OP)
I have a extension line from a dimension that I need to show as phantom.
I also need to add a gap (user defined symbol) to that extension line.
When I add the gap it shows up fine on the computer screen, but when I print it out part of the extension line (up to the gap) shows up correctly as phantom - but the other part of it (on the other side of the gap) shows up incorrectly as solid.
I toggled between hardware and software "Line Font Display" but that didn't change anything.
I am on NX6
Any suggestions on what may be causing this ? or a fix ?

RE: Dimension Extension Line

When printing you will be doing a screendump ( at least it used to be that) and when plotting you will send a cgm file to the printing software. Switching to software display mode should display the lines and the gaps as they will be sent to the cgmfile, while printing it is depending on the zoomfactor on the screen.
Check the Preferences - Visualization - Line ,activate Software mode and check the "plotted line lengths" and "plotted gap size".
( in metric parts those defaults to 1mm by 1 mm, which both are slightly small. )

RE: Dimension Extension Line

I was able to reproduce the problem with both NX 6.0 and NX 7.5 so I'm going to open a PR.  Note that it does not make any difference whether you perform a Print or Plot (or PDF or CGM) operation, the results are all the same since internally we first create a CGM file and then pass it to whatever 'despooler' you've chosen, be it the Printer, the Plotter or a PDF file.

Thanks for the input.
I figured it was some sort of bug, as this is the type of thing that is not done very often, so it wouldn't be caught by anyone.
In my case I was able to come up with an alternate way to show what I needed to, but the original way would have been preferred.

RE: Dimension Extension Line

Thanks John, i have noticed that the result of the "print" has changed and have become good, It used to be very rough in older versions.

RE: Dimension Extension Line

UPDATE:  This problem has been resolved and the fix will be delivered in NX 7.5.5.x (will be delivered before the end of the year).
