Cloning naming problem

Cloning naming problem

Cloning naming problem

(OP)
In NX7.5 I'm trying to clone an assembly using 'replace' in the naming rule.
The problem is that some of the names I want to replace start with capital letters and some do not. (i.e. BM30680 and bm30680)
This causes a name failure error
All the files on disk are small letters, so I figure it has to be the assembly navigator causing the problem.
Is there a way to change the names in the navigator so either all are capital letters or lower case? (Changing in properties doesn't work)
Thanks.

RE: Cloning naming problem

Thanks bbylls for raising this.

in continuation to that, even when you rename the component(change case)in Explorer (model2.prt to Model2.prt) the assembly navigator shows model2 and the naming rule error during cloning remains.

So I guess that means no solution?

RE: Cloning naming problem

I took a few minutes yesterday to try to reproduce the problem, but couldn't. Perhaps you could post a quick example that shows the problem?

RE: Cloning naming problem

I have an assembly model with 2 plates.
In the navigation tree they are:
BM1234_Bottom_Plate
bm1234_Top_Plate
When I try to clone them with a naming replacement:
BM1234 to AD9876
I get an error message because both parts do not start with capital BM.
Changing the part names on disk in the explorer does not help. I believe it works strictly from the navigator tree.
I am wondering if I can get around this somehow.

RE: Cloning naming problem

We are aware of this issue and it's being investigated, however since there may be several things involved here it would be to everyones advantage is you could contact GTAC, have them open an IR/PR and submit you assembly model so that we have another real-world example which we can use to test and debug our code.

Thanks John.
I will do that.
