Welding on impact tested (PWHT) vessel without PWHT

(OP)
Hi!!

I want to weld a non pressure part (thickness 10mm) to an impact tested vessel of thickness 60mm (P1G2)in service having originally undergone  PWHT. Can I weld it without PWHT. What sort of procedure qualification will be required for this.

Regards

RE: Welding on impact tested (PWHT) vessel without PWHT

Since the vessel is in service, I would recommend you follow the guidance in the National Board Inspection Code, Part 3 under alternative welding methods. There are five methods of which one would apply to your application with no PWHT. You will need to qualify the alternative welding procedure specification with impact testing.
