Dust Collection Balancing

Dust Collection Balancing

Dust Collection Balancing

(OP)
Hi

I am new to the forum and need some help.

Basically we are trying to construct a test rig for a dust collection system and need to install approx 3000 Pa pressure drop into the rig.

The airflows are
78l/s and 130l/s.

Does anyone know what we can install to replicate the pressure loss?

RE: Dust Collection Balancing

A plate with about the right size hole.

A bag with the right amount of dust in it.

Have you ever used a pinch valve to balance a system?

RE: Dust Collection Balancing

I thought you were simulating the dp of a fully loaded filter?

If you are balancing, then you need a manually adjustable valve with a predictable flow characteristic.   Pinch valves are typically air-operated and normally for isolation rather than modulation of flow, or do you mean a manual diaphragm valve (Saunder's valve)?

Balancing of dust collection systems is best done with good duct design.  The Industrial Ventilation handbook is your best reference.

We are trying to simulate teh pressure drop within a dust collection system.

Basically we have 6 rooms with 3 connections in each room. one of the conections in the rooms has a pressure drop of 2500Pa and we are trying to balance the systems. pipe sizes are small and distance are too short to balance the system through static regain.

RE: Dust Collection Balancing

Thats a lot of pressure to kill without some serious flow restrictions which would then just collect the dust you are trying to remove causing further problems.

Is is possible to make the duct on the 2500Pa pressure loss section larger to reduce the pressure loss?
