WORKSTATION FOR FEA

WORKSTATION FOR FEA

WORKSTATION FOR FEA

(OP)
Hello,

I would like a suggestion to configure a new workstation for FEA.
At the moment, I am using a WS with TYAN s5396 MB, n.2 XEON E5430  @ 2.66GHz , 16 Gb RAM and NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2Gb; sometime, during the analysis, the WS does not work and it needs to be re-started!!!!
It happens random and I don't know how to fix the problem.

Many thanks

Thanks for your answer,

I have submitted the analysis to FEA supplier and He didn't find any problem.
I think it could be an hardware problem; by means of specific hardware test CPU, RAM, HDD & GPU have been excluded as fault cause.
The last chance is the power supply, it could be undersized.

What do you thing? Do you have any suggestion?

Regards

RE: WORKSTATION FOR FEA

I've only encountered such lockups due to software faults in the sense that for the model being solved, you get numerical over flows, but at some point the system usually times out and the software terminated.

see if the issue recurs in other cases and ask your vendor about the run-time error flags set, when the code is compiled, error flags such as range-checking, over-flow, etc.

some codes also have a memory dump to allow some trouble shooting
