Middle East Electrical Codes

Middle East Electrical Codes

(OP)
Our company designs and manufactures modular plants.  We are familiar with North American, European and Australian electrical codes.  What electrical codes are used in the Middle East?

RE: Middle East Electrical Codes

Most of the Middle East, other than Saudi, uses some derivative of the British Standards. Saudi's electrical system has a heavy US influence. I'm not certain but I'd guess that US standards could be the basis of their system.

Thanks for the pictures Wayne =)

Scotty, your answer is consistent with the opinion of another colleague of mine.  Thanks.

RE: Middle East Electrical Codes

Let there be no doubt.  Most SA codes are derived from whatever standards the 7 Sisters used. Today it is possible to see some code mash-ups.  Watch out for the occasional 50 Hz system.

Those photos above undoubtedly show strong evidence of the more orderly techniques recently introduced by the US Army, whereas the following are more representative of common street works.

It's gotta be an EE's nightmare.
I'm sure one of them is a direct wire to hell.
