fused cutout before sectionalizer 35kV

fused cutout before sectionalizer 35kV

(OP)
Is there a code or standard that would prevent me from installing a fused cutout on a pole before a sectionalizer switch pole.  Or should I install the switch before the fuse?

I am at 35kV in the USA and the scetionalizer switch will be a scada mate 5801 and the fuses will be before it.  The switch before the fused cutout is owned by the utility.

RE: fused cutout before sectionalizer 35kV

You normally put a recloser or switch ahead of (closer to the source) any fuse cutouts.  Fuses will operate for any short circuits on their load side.

A scadamate can be monitored and controlled remotely.  If the fuses were ahead of the switch, you've lost the ability to sectionalize up to the switch.

There's no standard covering this.  It's just considered good practice.
