Anyone have an opinion as to whether the formboard used for gypsum decks is compressible enough to warrant removing a strip where new beams retrofit below the deck for new roof top equipment are added?

RE: Gyp Deck Retrofit Support

If you mean that you are going to have interleaved a layer of gypsum board I would remove it preferably in general on potential chemical attack to steel and on mechanical reason if the compression stresses on the board exceed 2.5 or 3 MPa. Gypsum compressive strength may attain around twice that, but just in case.

The formboard is fiberglas.
