Hi all,

There is a cast-iron part, with dimensions 300x300x500mm, that has to be lathed. The part is fixed at just one side, at a big lathe headstock. The problem is that it`s not possible to mantain one diameter inside tolerances, probably beacause this part is not axisimmetric (large non-uniform mass distribution) and there are vibration during lathing due to this. In other simplified works, it`s a "kind" of big shaft with non-uniform radial mass distribution. I have to simulate this situation at Ansys Classical, but I don`t know how.
I think I can`t use harmonic analysis, because in this analysis all loads must be sinusoidally time-varing, while in the lathing the angular displacement is always growing. I guess I can`t also run a Rotating Structure Analysis using "Stationary Reference Frame", because my structure is not axisymmetric (this is stated at Ansys Help).
So, how can I do this? Only running a transient analysis??
