Selecting All Items by Layer

Selecting All Items by Layer

Selecting All Items by Layer

(OP)
Is there a way to do this in a SolidWorks drawing?  Does it have to be done with a macro?

RE: Selecting All Items by Layer

C Girl  I'm sorry to say this is not AutoCad. There are no layers assigned to start. As you make parts you can assign layers, But out of the box all items are one layer.

RE: Selecting All Items by Layer

You can set a layer to be current layer in your drawing. So when ever you add something will go to that layer.

RE: Selecting All Items by Layer

If you hide all your other layers, you could select everything and get just the layer you want.

SolidWorks unlike other systems only uses Layers in Drafting mode ind even then not so well. Layers cannot be accessed in model mode so hide/show must be used to control visibility. Of course since 2010 SolidWorks display pane has made the use of hide show easier because of the click toggle behavior that was always an extra step in earlier releases.

Of course if you want layer functionality you can check out DraftSight

RE: Selecting All Items by Layer

What exactly are you doing with layers?  I have never really seen a need for them in SolidWorks.
