HRV fresh air supply ok?

HRV fresh air supply ok?

HRV fresh air supply ok?

(OP)
Hi,

For a radiant floor heated industrial building in an extreme cold climate, what's the best way to supply fresh air into the room?

Is a HRV unit supplying fresh air (20cfm/p) into the room good enough?  Or do we need reheat?

Thanks.

RE: HRV fresh air supply ok?

Well since it's extremely cold....

RE: HRV fresh air supply ok?

What about opening a window, slightly?

RE: HRV fresh air supply ok?

HRV is a good idea but you have to check with the code in your area first, It might and I think will ask you to tamper the air to a certain temperature(which the HRV would not be able tor each it) before entering it into the space.

RE: HRV fresh air supply ok?

Your defrost strategy is relevant as well, as you don't want untempered air dumping in the space. Exhaust only defrost is my preference for small HRV.

Ventilation should be sized on people (cfm/person) and area (cfm/ft2). Also, you may be exhausting for industrial purposes? Washrooms?

I'd check the off HX temp on your HRV at design, drop it by 5 degrees then picture it dumping into the space. If that is acceptable, no reheat required.
