API510 vs API570

API510 vs API570

API510 vs API570

(OP)
In my previous employment, I inspected atmospheric tanks but never anything with pressure.  I'm an API653 with a CWI.  My new employer has worked with pressure vessels and piping inspection for decades.  They want me to get my API510 and API570 in my 1st year.  Wanted to get the community's opinion on which one to start with and why...

RE: API510 vs API570

Recommend starting with pipe.

RE: API510 vs API570

I'd go for API510 myself.  There's quite a bit of overlap between the two when it comes to the exams.

Hahaha,
Looks to me like the consensus so far is about the same way I feel about it.  I guess I'll go with tank lookaround

RE: API510 vs API570

I hold 570, 510, and 653.  653 was hardest, 570 by far the easiest.  If I was in your shoes, I would take a GOOD prep seminar for 510 and test on that.  If you don't have much trouble with that, just read through 570 a couple of times and take that test.  Pipes are just vessel shells without heads.
