Does anyone have a good reference for design of light gage slip tracks in curtain walls?

RE: Light Gage Slip Track Design

Have you looked at the MBMA (metal building manufactures association)?

There standard steel stud manual doesn't give a ton on info but it gives some info on the required thickness of the track flange subject to a point load. I can attach the section tomorrow if you interested.

Sure, that would be great.

RE: Light Gage Slip Track Design

Do you have a specific connection detail that is troublesome or are you looking for "Curtain Walls 101"? The SSMA has a few details and a couple articles on nested tracks, http://www.ssma.com/technical_library.aspx . The Cold Formed Steel Engineers Institute a few technical notes, http://www.cfsei.org/technical_pg.htm. Several companies manufacture a variety of slip connections (Dietrich, Steel Network, . . . ).

abusementpark - WannabeEIT acctually beat me to it as it was SSMA I was thinking of and not MBMA.  However here is the basic info that he linked to:

Track properties:
http://www.ssma.com/documents/ssmatechcatalog.pdf

Track thickness Design:
http://www.ssma.com/documents/tn01.pdf

Track with in Track Design:
http://www.ssma.com/documents/tn01.pdf

and attached is a paper.
