Mold Design

(OP)
I have a part that I was given the task of making a mold for. The problem that I seem to be running into is after I create a parting line, which I think is fine, I cannot get a parting surface off of the part next. The error "failed to create surface due to geometric condition". Unfortunately for me the error give me no direction on how to resolve the situation. Attached is the part and the basic design of the block for the mold. Any help would be greatluy appreicated.

RE: Mold Design

adam48180,
Looks like you have "undercut" in your geometry. What it means that you can not have straight up and down molding. Your mold design software sees it and will not continue to automatically generate parting surface. You will have to do it manually. Also, your mold will require internal cams to release part.
