brushless motor 101?

brushless motor 101?

brushless motor 101?

(OP)
Hi, I am bidding a project- therefor do not want to put in a ton of time upfront before getting a PO from a client.

Typically, we use 2 and 4 pole 3 phase motors.  For this project, we are looking at a battery powered system, hence the brushless question.

I am looking for 4-8 shaft HP, operating at (probably) 120VDC.  I would rather avoid a gear box.  I am driving a hydraulic pump.  In order to estimate the pump, I need to know the likely motor speed.

Question:  is there an optimal, or nominal speed for a brushless motor of this size (I am used to 3 phase motors, which have fixed RPM).  the faster I can expect the motor to operate, the smaller the pump I can source (up to ~3000 or 3600 RPM).

thanks

RE: brushless motor 101?

The range may be from 900 RPM to 10,000 RPM with notable exceptions. Check your catalogs for a suitable motor. You will probably be able to locate a motor that runs at the 1800 RPM that you usually use, avoiding a lot of mechanical issues.
