Does NX6 work with Excel 2010 ?

NX 6.0.5.3 (NX 8 Beta)
Windows XP32

RE: NX6 & Excel 2010

Currently we are looking to certify the use of Excel 2010 with NX 6.0.5.3 with the release of MP8, which at the moment is planned for July of this year.

John,

Could you elaborate on the issues, are we talking a show stopper ?

Our main use of Excel is part families,

NX 6.0.5.3 (NX 8 Beta)
Windows XP32

RE: NX6 & Excel 2010

Since this is linked to an MP release, and not simply a date on the calendar, I have to assume that there was some NX code which needed to be changed to make this work reliably.

The real issue is that more and more places inside of NX are depending either on linking TO Excel allowing data to be exchanged or using a spawned session of Excel as a sort of data entry/editing task environment, and so a lot of testing has to be done and occasionally slight changes have to be made (as it appears to be the case this time around) so that both the newest version of Excel and the older versions that we need to continue to support will work as expected.

RE: NX6 & Excel 2010

About a year ago I noticed that part families didn't seem to work with Excel 2010.  Lately I tried a couple of them and the system hangs for a while but it eventually seemed to work.  You just have to wait a long time and so you probably don't want to upgrade to 2010 until you have this MP in place.

Thanks for the responses.

Would we be okay to use Excel 2007 ?

NX 6.0.5.3 (NX 8 Beta)
Windows XP32

RE: NX6 & Excel 2010

That's the version of Excel that I'm currently using.

RE: NX6 & Excel 2010

I also have a machine with 2007 and have not seen the problems I am seeing with 2010 wrt part families.
