adding a weld to sheet metal tube

adding a weld to sheet metal tube

adding a weld to sheet metal tube

(OP)
Hi dumb question but has anyone  been able to add a weld seam to a rolled tube in solidworks? If I add an solid extrusion it seem to stop the sheet flattening.

Can you help

thanks

RE: adding a weld to sheet metal tube

The solution to your workaround is probably to uncheck Merge solids when you extrude your "weld". that way you can still flatten the sheetmetal body.
When you place the part on the drawing, use "select bodys" to only have the sheetmetal body vissible, after this you will get the flat pattern view vissible.
