aci 301-05 vs 301-10

aci 301-05 vs 301-10

aci 301-05 vs 301-10

(OP)
301-05 states
1.6.3 Testing responsibilities of Contractor
1.6.3.2.d Provide and maintain adequate facilities on
the project site for safe storage and initial curing of concrete
test specimens as required by ASTM C 31/C 31M for the
sole use of the testing agency.

Obviously I don't have 301-10 yet.  I've heard that the responsibility for the initial curing environment has been shifted to the testing labs in the 301-10.

Any truth to this?

RE: aci 301-05 vs 301-10

I think it is ACI 318-11, not 10.

JAE - Are you saying 318-11 has something to say about cylinder initial curing?  What?

RE: aci 301-05 vs 301-10

I don't think there is such a thing as ACI 318-10.  They are on a 3 year cycle (05, 08, 11).

I don't know if 11 is available yet - I'd have to check the ACI website.  I could look up the 08 tomorrow if you need me to.

JAE,

boffintech is talking 301, not 318.

To the question, you heard correctly, the contractor is required to provide a location with power rather than the curing box or otherwise.

If you are an ACI member, the chairman of the 301-10 committee has a number of articles in CI highlighting the changes.
