Cantilever beam
Cantilever beam
(OP)
I have a assembly that is bolted with two bolts in series. This assembly behavior likes a cantilever beam. Can some body help to draw a Free body diagram for that.
I need to find reaction forces at both bolts. I am confused where to apply to moment, at the center of two bolts.

RE: Cantilever beam
The moment is maximum at Bolt 2 and is equal to 15.79P where P is the load at the end. The moment diagram is linear between the end of the cantilever and Bolt 2. It then decreases linearly to 0 at Bolt 1.
R1 is downward and equals 15.79P/d where d is the distance between R1 and R2.
R2 is upward and equals P + R1.

RE: Cantilever beam
R1 Downward R2 Upward
To find R1 & R2 you use simple statics and sum the moments. Is this an academic question?
If this is not an academic question and you are not sure how to do this, then I hope you are not doing any analysis of the member or the supports (bolts).
RE: Cantilever beam
Thanks,
RE: Cantilever beam
This is first principle statics. Take the moment around each of the bolts in turn in order to get the load at the other bolt.
Summ of all moments (applied and reaction) = 0
Summ of all loads (applied and reaction)in each direction = 0
RE: Cantilever beam
Your dual post in the Mechanical forum (Now Removed) stated you require to remove one of the bolts but didn't say which one, if you remove bolt2 from your diagram then the pivot point as gone and the loads you have calculated no longer apply.
Please provide a more detailed sketch of the components and the joint that needs modifying along with external loads.
