JOINT REACTIONS RESULT
JOINT REACTIONS RESULT
(OP)
Good afternoon , I would to know how RISA does the calculatios of the following :
I have a result force value on one joint N1 X=4483 kgs , Y=20,898 kgs and a MZ( Kg-Ml) = 4220 Kg-ml and the lenght of the member is 2.8 mts , we are talking about a WF 12 x 59 lbs/ft ??

RE: JOINT REACTIONS RESULT
I do not understand the nature of the question. RISA-3D using a matrix based FEM solution to solve for all deflections, joint reactions and member forces. So, the applied loading and the boundary conditions for the structure would be pretty important for the program when determining those joint reactions.

First, the section WF 12x59 is assumed by you as a tentaive section.
Second, with the values calculated by RISA, it checks the stresses according to the code you input.
For example if you are using AISC 89 - ASD you must have a stress factor (SR) less than "1", otherwise you need to increase the section. My recomendation is to follow the tutorial of RISA 3D.Also, you must to know very well the code, because you need to apply, Lb lengths, K factors, decide if the structure can displace or not etc.
