RC circuits
RC circuits
(OP)
I am trying to determine capacitance using impedance spectroscopy as a function of frequency with two RC circuits in series with the same resistance (1Mohm). It seems that the circuit is behaving essentially as two capacitors in parallel so that the reference capacitance (50pF) can be subtracted from the total capacitance to get the sample capacitance. Does this approach for measuring capacitance seem reasonable? Thanks

RE: RC circuits
That is essentially what you do when using a standard RCL meter and nulling out the test lead capacitance.
The term 'Impedance Spectroscopy' is new to me. We usually think of it as doing DNA (Dynamic Network Analysis). What equipment do you use?
