So I'm shopping meters today.. I going for a lot of bang for the buck, but I especially love any equipment with logging capability.

Here's my current top prospect for a temp. meter:
http://www.metershack.com/metershack-professional-30-1-ir-laser-thermometer-up-to-3002-deg-f-1650-deg-c-type-k-thermocouple-with-usb-interface.html

There is a similar model with wireless data transfer (same price!) that would be nifty, but is probably unnecessary- unfortunately, its out of stock.

Anyway, I have a use for this on a current project but as always I'd like to get something with a broad range so that it will be useful for most any task.  Also, a narrow beam is of course useful.

The model cited has no reviews, and I've never bought from this vendor before.  This is coming out of pocket for me, so I'd appreciate any value saving tips too (coupon codes?).

Anything else I'm missing?  If there is a critical spec that I should really be more concerned with, please let me know, but at the moment I'm looking for a versatile general purpose meter.

Thanks for any help!

PS.  Also considering picking up this one:
http://www.metershack.com/misc-meters/metershack-4-in-1-industrial-thermometer-light-humidity-sound-meter.html
For no particular project/reason.  The motivation is only that I have no other means of measuring light/humidity/sound at present.

RE: IR thermometer review(s)

I know nothing about them other than you can get one for less than $100 at Radio Shack

Not with the USB/Data logging feature from what I've seen.  I guess $200 or so is the best deal around.  Fair enough.
