Nut torque calculation

Nut torque calculation

Nut torque calculation

(OP)
Hello,

I have to calculate the torque for a bronze (ASTM B-61) nut with a major internal thread diameter of 1.491" and the thread is 14-UNS-2B. What formula can I use? I know the formula for bolt but not for nut.
Thank you.

RE: Nut torque calculation

I would expect the only difference in torque to be due to differences in the bearing surface size and coefficient of friction (if the bolt and nut are different materials) on the nut vs. the bolt head.

RE: Nut torque calculation

Only if there are no friction effects due to the shaft of the bolt in the hole.  In such a case that would differentiate the torque's of the nut vs. the bolt.
