EN 10213 Impact testing

EN 10213 Impact testing

EN 10213 Impact testing

(OP)
EN10213:2003 requires impact testing for a number of material grades. Section 7.2.2.1 says that "mechanical properties shall conform to the values given in Table 4 for ferritic & martensitic grades".

Referring to Table 4, (alloy number 1.7379, equivalent to ASTM A217 WC9), it just says "Impact test KV, 40J min". Should this value be interpreted as a minimum average, or minimum individual reading?

Normally this would not be an issue, as most specifications state both, but what happens if your results are, for example 37J, 48J, 47J, average 44J?

RE: EN 10213 Impact testing

My interpretation of 7.2.2.1 and Table 4 are minimum individual readings, but I have never actually purchased/specified anything according to this standard.
