IUID Note on Drawing

IUID Note on Drawing

IUID Note on Drawing

(OP)
This is a general question about how to apply IUID detail onto a drawing.  IUID standards for Item unique identification, it is basically a 2D barcode. It is part of the marking standard for the US military IAW MIL-STD-130N.  Usually we just make a note on the drawing which says something like the text below.

NOTE:
1. PERMANENTLY MARK "PART NUMBER XZY" IN APPROX AREA SHOWN, IN .25 HIGH CHARACTERS, IAW MIL-STD-130.

A new customer for us wants to add IUID markings for parts on a system we are documenting.  I am thinking the new drawing note would list an example IUID string and list some details about the type of IUID we want the manufacturer to put on the part.

I included a form from GDLS which I found on the internet that tells how they implement it.  However, I would like to be able implement it on a drawing without having to make a whole procedure guide.  Everything that is explained in the GDLS document is already detailed in MIL-STD-130, so I am not sure why you would need a seperate document.

Has anyone dealt with IUIDs before?

Thanks,

Dan
