Composite analysis

Composite analysis

Composite analysis

(OP)
Hi all,

I have to do a structural analysis of a composite element, but I don't get Catia to do it and it's driving me nuts.

The problem is very easy but I don't know how to handle it. The element is just a square prism, with no end covers, with some thickness. It's made of composites and I have the mechanical specs. I model it as a 3D solid, but it won't let me apply a "composite" material property to it - which is Ok, I can't complain about that :)

I guess I will have to model it as a 2D surface, but how? How do I add a mesh to it? How do I indicate the directions of the plies? And so on...

Any insight will be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
