NX5 Size of WCS, drafting dimension snap points

NX5 Size of WCS, drafting dimension snap points

NX5 Size of WCS, drafting dimension snap points

(OP)
I was given a new computer and for some reason all my preferences were not carried over, so therefore I've been spending much of my morning setting things back up the way I prefer them.  I'm on NX5.

I've noticed the size of my WCS, the snap points that come up for putting dimensions on in drafting, things like that seem extra small.  I've been looking all morning for the preference to make it all a 'normal' size.

Can anyone help me with this?  I'm sure it's one of those settings that I've looked at 100 times, but I didn't think it was the right option.

Thanks in advance!

RE: NX5 Size of WCS, drafting dimension snap points

OK, try this.  Go to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> View/Screen

...and select the large 'Calibrate' button in the middle of the dialog.  Now what you will find, despite the implication that you should be seeing a circle approx 2"/5CM in diameter, it will look half that size (I'll bet that your new computer is running Windows 7, isn't it?).  Anyway, using the horizontal and vertical sliders, change the 'size' of the circle until it's approximately 2"/5CM in diameter, hit OK twice and you should be good to go.

Note that there is a problem with Windows 7 (despite the fact that Microsoft doesn't think so) providing the appropriate feedback as to the resolution and size of the display.  This issue will be fixed permanently (or at least until MS decides to change the way they sample the displayed image again) in the next full maintenance release of NX 7.5 as well as the new version of NX itself, however we are not going back to fix any of the pre-NX 7.5 releases since the workaround I described above will get you back to where you were before you moved from Windows XP to Windows 7.

John,

That fixed it!  Thank you so much!  I can usually learn to deal with a lot of things, but that was driving me crazy!

Actually I'm on WinXP on a machine that was built for Win 7, but we are supposed to be moving to Win 7 in August so I will keep this in mind.

Again, thank you!
