Help with GFRP pressure vessel design

Help with GFRP pressure vessel design

(OP)
Can anyone help with GFRP (fiber glass) please?

I have a need to design a custom fiber glass pressure vessel with our tailored internals.
I'm OK with metals but haven't the first idea how to design with or spec GFRP.
I know that there are strength issues and stress directions to avoid but which? Allowable stresses, inspection issues? No idea!

Someone out there must be able to point me in a useful direction.
I'd appreciate your input.

RE: Help with GFRP pressure vessel design

Suggest you get a copy of ASME RTP-1 Code.  That would give you a good head start and it is readly available.   I am not aware any text book that deals with FRP design.  I learned this topic by reading RTP-1, some company standards, and talking to the FRP fabricators.

Hope this helps.

Thanks vesselguy,
I'll check it out

RE: Help with GFRP pressure vessel design

RTP-1 is a good start but probably won't cover everything.  If you are not familiar with these vessels be careful with resin selection, design temperatures, laminate construction and select a good fabricator.

RE: Help with GFRP pressure vessel design

I would like to  suggest you to refere BS:4994 code. This code deals with design & construction of GFRP pressure vessel.
I hope this may satisfy your needs.
