Bevels as per ASME ANSI B16.25
Bevels as per ASME ANSI B16.25
(OP)
A Spanish mill furnished carbon steel pipe as per API 5L with bevels allegedly as per ASI B16.25.
My question is the following:
"Can bevels as per ANSI B16.25 be accepted instead of plain end bevels as per API 5L (30 deg angle + 5 deg / - 0 deg, with a root face of 0.063" +/- 0.031")".
Would pipeline contractors be able to string the pipeline without issues with this bevels? or they would demand bevels as per API 5L?.
I am enclosing section of API addressing plain end bevels just in case need it.

This is correct. The engineering specification is what governs and if the wrong bevel was supplied, yes, the pipe can be rejected for use. Worst case, if the API bevel was indeed specified by contract, the mill would trim the ends of the pipe, weld to restore proper length, and rebevel to the required specification.

Basically, bevels do not quite match. For example: On the 18" x .938" pipe, the mill claims that bevels were fabricated as per Fig. 3A. However, there are areas/angles that are missing (see the sticky notes on the PDF file). The same occurs with the 20" x 1.031" pipe, and the 18" x .750" pipe looks like an API 5L bevel tapered on the ID.
Finally, I am enclosing photos of the bevels. Can anyone tell me if these bevels are in fact as per ASME 16.25, or if instead are just poorly manufactured? and if so, what type of repairs would be needed in order to avoid any potential problems when stringing the pipeline?.
Thanks in advance.
