How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

(OP)
hi,
can anyone tell me how to create a 'cutaway' effect on a single part in drafting mode (nx6) on a tfr-iso view. First I tried to use a section view through the single part in my assembly but the full assembly was sectioned. I want to be able to see into the assembly..

many thanks,
James

RE: How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

You can use "breakout section view".
If you haven't ever used it, it will take some practice - but you will get there.
Somebody previously made a nice video on this, but I see that it is no longer available on the site that it was originally at - maybe they posted it on "YouTube".

RE: How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

May I suggest that you open the NX Help document and do a search on "break-out section overview".  You will find (at least in NX 7.5) some very good information and even a sort tutorial, with lots of pictures, of how to go about creating various orthographic or pictorial break-out views on a Drawing.

Many thanks guys, I will have a go at playing with 'break out section view' - I have not used that functionality before.

Hi Jerry,
can you tell me where you saw the tutorial video, breakout section view is pretty tricky...

many thanks,
James

RE: How to create a 'cutaway' effect....

Yes it is a bit tricky - the last time that I went to look at the video it was pulled off - I cannot get on "YouTube" here at work but maybe try doing a search on there - I know there is other NX vidoes on it.
