Chain Operated Valve

Chain Operated Valve

Chain Operated Valve

(OP)
Hi All,

Is there any way to lock chain operated valve? This valve is not accessable but procee engineer marked CSC on P&ID.

Thanks,

RE: Chain Operated Valve

Is it possible to thread another chain (or thick wire) through one of the links in the valve chain and then lock that second chain to something to prevent the valve chain from being turned?

Alternatively could you put some type of cover over the lower portion of the valve chain and lock the cover in place such that the valve chain couldn't be moved while the cover was in place(this would still require the ability to thread something through the valve chain links)?

(I'm presuming you've verified that the valve really is required to be locked closed.)

RE: Chain Operated Valve

Use a lockable chain keeper.  They are used on commercial chain operated roll up door openers.

RE: Chain Operated Valve

Padlock the chain to a wall bracket or around a local pipe.
