There was a spark on the voltage transformer compartment due to moisture, the panel heaters malfunctions though. The insulation dividers (made of asbestos fibers)are heavily burnt also. If i order this asbestos fiber, it takes too long (3 months to arrive). Is it safe to use a phenolic board to replace the asbestos fiber? the asbestos fiber has a thickness of 1/8". Someone says the phenolic board absorbs moisture and will eventually degrades easily but i usually saw phenolic boards on control centers for motors, etc.

Please advise, thanks.

You see the OEM's using asbestos? What type of switchgear? I should have replacement insulating barriers in stock for any old switchgear you have.

Sketch up the pcs you need. Email it Zog and he will sell you the proper material prepared the proper way.  I would bet it would less expensive then what your planning.

But then asbestos board attracts lawyers and eventually degrades into an expensive lawsuit.snake

Looks like mica.

Kind of looks like GPO-3 to me, which is a electrical grade fiberglass filled polyester. It's somewhat track resistant, but not the best for direct contact with energized parts.

the problem is moisture, we havent run for a month and the cabin heaters malfunctioned. i have researched the material and it is fiberglass polyester or epoxy reinforced. thanks for the replies.

If the bus passes through this, it might be better to use CA epoxy window bushings.
